Screening for Plagiarism
MIMBAR TRIBAKTI: Journal of Islamic Studies and Education upholds a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism and is firmly committed to maintaining academic integrity and ethical scholarly publishing. All manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
Plagiarism is defined as the use, imitation, or close resemblance of the language, ideas, data, or expressions of another author and presenting them as one’s own work without proper acknowledgment. Any material taken verbatim from other sources must be clearly distinguished from the author’s original text by using quotation marks or block indentation and must be accompanied by accurate and complete citations. Reproduction of text, figures, tables, or other graphic materials beyond fair use limits requires written permission from the copyright holder, where applicable, and clear identification of the original source.
All manuscripts submitted to MIMBAR TRIBAKTI: Journal of Islamic Studies and Education are screened for textual similarity using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin) prior to the peer review process. The Managing Editor and editorial team evaluate the similarity report and determine the appropriate course of action based on the level of similarity identified, in accordance with the following guidelines:
· Similarity Index above 35%
The manuscript is rejected outright due to poor citation practices or inadequate paraphrasing. No resubmission is permitted.
· Similarity Index between 20% and 35%
The manuscript is returned to the author(s) for major revision. Authors are required to improve citations, properly acknowledge all sources, and apply effective paraphrasing throughout the manuscript.
· Similarity Index below 20%
The manuscript may be accepted for further processing, although minor citation improvements may still be required to ensure proper attribution of all sourced materials.
For manuscripts requiring revision (Similarity Index between 20% and below 20%), authors must carefully revise the text, provide complete and accurate citations, and resubmit the manuscript accompanied by a new plagiarism report demonstrating a similarity score of less than 20%.
Failure to comply with these plagiarism standards may result in rejection of the manuscript or further editorial action. This screening policy reflects the journal’s commitment to ethical publishing practices, academic honesty, and the credibility of scholarly work in the fields of Islamic studies and Islamic education.
