Generative AI Policy
MIMBAR TRIBAKTI: Journal of Islamic Studies and Education requires authors to disclose the use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the manuscript writing process at the time of submission. This policy specifically applies to the writing and language preparation of manuscripts and does not address the use of AI tools for data analysis, data processing, or research insights.
The following principles govern the use of generative AI in manuscripts submitted to the journal:
- Permitted Use
Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies may be used solely to improve language quality, clarity, and readability of the manuscript. These tools must not be used to generate original scholarly content, interpret data, draw conclusions, or replace critical academic reasoning.
- Human Oversight and Responsibility
The use of AI tools must be conducted under full human supervision. Authors are required to carefully review, edit, and verify all AI-assisted outputs, as such tools may produce content that appears authoritative but may be inaccurate, incomplete, or biased. Authors bear full responsibility and accountability for the integrity, originality, and accuracy of the manuscript.
- Authorship
Generative AI tools and AI-assisted technologies must not be listed or cited as authors or co-authors, as authorship entails intellectual responsibility and ethical accountability that can only be assumed by human researchers.
- Mandatory Disclosure
Authors must disclose the use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in the writing process by including a formal statement at the end of the manuscript upon initial submission. This statement will be published as part of the final article and should be placed in a separate section before the references.
Required format example:
Title of Section: Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Writing Process
Statement: During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL/SERVICE] for [SPECIFIC PURPOSE, e.g., language editing or readability improvement]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) thoroughly reviewed and revised the content and take full responsibility for the final version of the published article.
- Exemptions
Disclosure is not required for the use of basic editorial tools such as spelling checkers, grammar checkers, or reference management software. If no generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used, no declaration is necessary.
- Use of AI by Reviewers and Editors
To protect the confidentiality, impartiality, and intellectual property of authors, MIMBAR TRIBAKTI: Journal of Islamic Studies and Education prohibits reviewers and editors from using generative AI or AI-assisted tools, including large language models, during the peer review and manuscript evaluation process. The journal may revise this policy in the future as compliant and ethically appropriate AI tools become available.
This policy reflects the journal’s commitment to academic integrity, transparency, and ethical scholarly publishing in the evolving landscape of digital and AI-assisted research practices.
